Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jerry Holland
Left-winger Jerry Holland played briefly for the New York Rangers in the mid-70s. Although his NHL career was short-lived, he was a top scorer in junior, the minors and at the senior level.

Born in Beaverlodge, Alberta, Holland starred in the BCJHL with the Kamloops Blazers in 1970-71. He then moved on to the Calgary Wranglers of the WCJHL and recorded consecutive 50-goal seasons before he was picked 50th overall by the Rangers in 1974. Holland scored a goal in his only NHL appearance in 1974-75 and led the AHL with 44 goals while playing for the Providence Reds. Following the season he was voted on to the AHL first all-star team and presented the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as the league's outstanding rookie.

In 1975-76, Holland scored seven goals in 36 games for New York and was paired with veteran Jean Ratelle for a few games. He was eventually returned to the minors and did not factor into the team's plans the next season. Holland scored 28 goals for the AHL's New Haven Nighthawks in 1976-77 then split the next year between the minors and the WHA's Edmonton Oilers. Holland retired in 1979 after leading the WIHL with 38 goals in 52 games while skating for the Spokane Flyers.
