Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Doug Horbul
Left-winger Doug Horbul played four games for the Kansas City Scouts in 1974-75. Despite the brevity of his NHL career, he was a fine goal scorer in junior and the minors.

Born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, Horbul split his three-year junior career in the WCHL between the Saskatoon Blades and Calgary Centennials. He was chosen 63rd overall by the New York Rangers in 1972 after scoring 39 goals for Calgary in his last amateur season. He spent two years in the minors and scored 34 goals for the Providence Reds of the AHL in 1973-74.

Horbul finally received an opportunity to play in the NHL when the Kansas City Scouts in the 1974 Expansion Draft picked him. The young forward scored a goal in four games for the Scouts then split the rest of the year between Providence and Baltimore in the AHL. Horbul spent two more seasons in the minors then competed for the senior Trail Smoke Eaters in 1977-78 before retiring.
