Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Claude Houde
Defenceman Claude Houde played parts of the Kansas City Scouts' two seasons in the NHL during the mid-70s. He was a decent two-way player who spent most of his seven years as a pro in the minors.

Born in Drummondville, Quebec, Houde was signed by the New York Rangers when he was skating for the senior Granby Bisons. The Rangers were deep at most positions by the early 70s so he ventured between the EHL, AHL and IHL for several years. A trade to the Detroit Red Wings in February, 1974 only produced a change in minor pro venues.

Houde received his first legitimate crack at the MHL after he was sent to the expansion Kansas City Scouts halfway through the 1974-75 season. He played as well as he could as a rookie on an overmatched team then played 25 games the next year. Houde was eventually relegated to the minors and retired in 1977 after battling injuries and playing 22 games for the Beauce Jaros of the North American league.
