Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Greg Hubick
Greg Hubick was a winger and defenceman who played briefly with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks in the 70s. He was a decent skater who could work well in the corners but his skill level was more suited to the minors.

Born in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, Hubick spent the 1969-70 season with the Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL. He then spent two years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and was selected 53rd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1971. After three years with the AHL's Nova Scotia Voyageurs, he was sent to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a second round draft choice used to claim Doug Jarvis.

As a rookie in 1975-76, Hubick scored six goals and was a solid defensive player on a line with veteran Jim McKenny and fellow freshman Don Ashby. By the next season, Toronto went with other players and Hubick was relegated to the CHL's Dallas Black Hawks. Prior to the 1979-80 season, he signed as a free agent with the Vancouver Canucks and played five more NHL games. He then returned to the Central League where he was a excellent defenceman for three years until his retirement in 1982. During this period Hubick was named to the league's first all-star team twice and voted its top defenceman in 1981.
