Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Al Huggins
Left-winger Al Huggins played 20 games for the Montreal Maroons in 1930-31. He was a solid playmaker and tenacious checker who spent most of his time as a pro in the IAHL and as an amateur in the NOHA.

The Toronto native played junior with the local Canoe Club in the OHA before joining the senior Montreal CPR team in 1927-28. He then spent a year in the NOHA with Iroquois Falls Paper before signing on with the senior Montreal AAA. In 1930-31, he was a convenient replacement when the Montreal Maroons ran into some injury problems.

After his half season in the NHL, Huggins spent 4 1/2 years in the IAHL, mostly with the Syracuse Stars. In 1935 he retired to spend two years behind the Stars' bench as head coach. He resumed his playing career in 1937-38 with the NOHA's South Porcupine Porkies where he remained until retiring in 1942.
