Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bill Hutton
Bill Hutton was a defenceman and right-winger who played briefly for three different NHL teams in the 20s and 30s. He was a solid checker who could contribute a bit of offense as well. Most of his playing days were spent in the minors during a career that lasted over 15 years.

The Calgary native played junior with the hometown Canadians. He began the 1929-30 season with the Boston Bruins then joined the Ottawa Senators in a mid-season trade for Harry Connor. Prior to the 1930-31 season, the two principles were sent back to their original teams in another transaction. In December 1930, Hutton was sent to the dreadful Philadelphia Quakers where he played 21 games and was one of the few bright spots on the club.

Following his NHL tenure, Hutton played in several minor pro leagues before retiring in 1944. Much of his time over this period was spent with the Vancouver Lions when they competed in the North West League and the PCHL. The veteran rearguard called it quits early in the 1943-44 after playing a few games for senior Seattle Bombers.
