Glenn Johannesen was a robust left winger who would faithfully player up and down his wing and dig the puck out of the corners. His NHL career consisted of a two-game stint with the New York Islanders in 1985-86. Johannesen was better remembered as a fine college and minor pro player.

The native of La Rouge, Saskatchewan, was the New York Islanders' final pick, 206th overall, in the 1980 Entry Draft. He the spent four years playing a regular shift at Western Michigan University. He was a tireless worker for the Broncos from 1980 to 1984 and recorded his share of assists for setting up his teammates stationed in the slot.

Following the NCAA season in 1983-84 Johannesen played his first three pro games with the IHL's Kalamazoo Wings. He split the next season between the IHL and AHL then received his two-game recall by the Islanders in 1985-86. Johannesen spent the rest of the decade in the minors before retiring in 1989. He best year was his 53-point effort for the Peoria Rivermen in 1987-88.
