Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Vern Kaiser
Left-winger Vern Kaiser played one NHL season with the Montreal Canadiens in 1950-51. For the majority of his career he was a successful minor pro forward, especially in the AHL.

The native of Preston, Ontario played with the junior Riversides and the Calgary Navy in 1941-42. This was followed by two years of military service in World War II. Towards the end of the war he played a few games with the Winnipeg Navy in that city's senior league.

Kaiser debuted as a pro with the Washington Lions of the EHL in the fall of 1945 then finished the season out with the New York Rovers of the same league. He next spent a year with the Seattle Ironmen of the PCHL and the USHL's Fort Worth Rangers before settling down in the AHL.

His chances of playing in the NHL were given a boost when the Montreal Canadiens made a deal with the Springfield Indians to obtain his rights. Kaiser played a regular shift with the Habs in 1950-51 and dressed for two playoff games in the semi-final series win over Detroit. He played his last three minor pro seasons in the minors before retiring in 1954.
