Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Al LeBrun
Defenceman Al LeBrun played briefly with the New York Rangers in the 60s. He provided a physical component in his own zone and was capable of moving the puck up to his forwards reasonably well.

Born in Timmins, Ontario, LeBrun played junior in Guelph with the OHA's Biltmores and Royals. He recorded two assists in four games for New York in 1960-61 but otherwise spent his early pro career with the Kitchener Beavers of the EPHL. He moved out to the WHL's Vancouver Canucks in 1962-63 then sat out a year with injuries.

In 1964-65, LeBrun made a solid return to the game with 11 goals and solid defensive play for the CHL's Saint Paul Rangers. He was recalled for two more games with the Blueshirts the next year then spent several years in the minors before retiring in 1974. The rugged blueliner enjoyed his finest stretch of success in the late 60s. In 1966 he was named the top rearguard in the CHL and placed on the league's first all-star team. Two years later he was a pillar on the Dallas Black Hawks' blueline and was named to the CHL second all-star team. LeBrun closed out his career with 5 1/2 solid years with the San Diego Gulls of the Western League.
