Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Doug Lecuyer
Left-winger Doug Lecuyer was a utility player on three different clubs in the 70s and 80s. He was used mostly as a checker and fourth liner in the NHL but put up more impressive offensive numbers in junior and the minors.

Born in Wainwright, Alberta, Lecuyer was selected 29th overall by Chicago in 1978 after scoring 177 goals in five WCJHL seasons. In 1978-79 he notched 18 goals for the New Brunswick Hawks of the AHL and scored his first big league goals during a two game recall to the Windy City. The next year recorded 13 points and played fairly well defensive when teamed with Alain Daigle and veteran John Marks.

Lecuyer's ice time was reduced during the first two months of the 1980-81 season then he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets with Tim Trimper in exchange for Peter Marsh. He adjusted well to his new surroundings and registered 23 points in 45 games while playing with Trimper and Rick Bowness. The next year Lecuyer scored 30 goals for the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL. Prior to the 1982-83 season he was claimed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lecuyer dressed for 12 games with the Pens but spent the majority of the year with the Baltimore Skipjacks of the AHL before retiring.
