Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Randy Legge
Defenceman Randy Legge played 12 games for the New York Rangers in 1972-73. He was a hard hitter who could pass the puck effectively up to his forwards. Most of his pro hockey career took place in the minors and the WHA.

Born in Newmarket, Ontario, Legge played junior in the OHA with the Guelph Royals and Kitchener Rangers. The New York prospect had trouble making one of the NHL's deepest rosters and ended up spending most of his first eight years as a pro in several minor leagues. In 1970 he provided grit and stability on the Buffalo Bisons' Calder Cup championship.

Legge recorded a pair of assists in 12 games for the Blueshirts in 1972-73 but was chiefly used on the AHL's Providence Reds. In 1974 he helped the Reds reach the Calder Cup final where they succumbed to the Hershey Bears. Before retiring in 1977, Legge spent three years in the WHA. His best year was his last when he added toughness and savvy to the San Diego Mariners' successful drive to qualify for the Avco Cup playoffs.
