Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jacques Lemieux
Defenceman Jacques Lemieux spent parts of three seasons with the LA Kings in the late 60s. He was a decent playmaker who could cover the defensive zone fairly well. Most of his pro career was spent in the minors where he was an valuable two-way contributor.

Born in Matane, Quebec, Lemieux played his amateur hockey with the NOHA's Rouyn-Noranda Alouettes. He began his pro career part way through the 1964-65 season with the CHL's Omaha Knights before moving on to the Houston Apollos the next year. In 1966-67, Lemieux enjoyed his best pro season to date by playing solid defence and registering 36 points for the AHL's Cleveland Barons.

The Montreal Canadiens prospect was never able to make the club's deep NHL roster. He received a shot at big league employment when the LA Kings picked him in the 1967 Expansion Draft. The steady blueliner played 16 games for the club in 1967-68 but was hampered by injuries. He made the odd appearance for the team over the next two years but the Kings opted to go with Bill White, Larry Cahan, Dave Amadio, Dale Rolfe, and Brent Hughes on defence. Lemieux bounced between the WHL and AHL before retiring in 1970.
