Defenceman Jean Lemieux was a mobile player with excellent puck-handling skills. After dominating in junior he was solid in an NHL career that topped 200 games in the 1970s.

Born in Noranda, Quebec, Lemieux was an offensive star for three seasons with the QMJHL's Sherbrooke Castors. After scoring 70 points in 61 games, he was chosen 34th overall by the Atlanta Flames at the 1972 Amateur Draft. The young rearguard enjoyed a solid rookie season as a pro with the Omaha Knights of the CHL.

Lemieux split the 1973-74 season between the NHL and the AHL's Nova Scotia Voyageurs. In 1974-75, he registered 24 assists and spent time on the point with the extra man. Halfway through the next season, he was sent to the dreadful Washington Capitals where his developed was stunted. He ended up being a decent AHL blueliner until he retired in 1979.
