Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dale Lewis
Left-winger Dale Lewis played eight games for the New York Rangers in 1975-76. He was an above average goal scorer who enjoyed several fine years in the minors.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Lewis starred in the AJHL with the Red Deer Rustlers. he turned pro with the EHL's Sun Coast Suns in 1972-73 and impressed with 32 goals. The young forward's solid performance earned him a contract with the LA Kings but he was strictly a farmhand in the WHL and AHL.

Lewis was given another chance to play in the NHL when the Rangers claimed him in the 1975 Intra-League Draft. He played solidly during an eight game look in 1975-76 but the Blueshirts had the likes of Steve Vickers, Pat Hickey, Greg Polis and youngster Larry Sacharuk ahead of him on their depth chart. Lewis spent the rest of the year with the AHL's Providence Reds then spent three years as a key player on the New Haven Nighthawks. In September, 1979 he signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Flames but was used in the CHL. Lewis retired after scoring a combined 53 points for the CHL's Birmingham Bulls and the Nighthawks in 1980-81.
