Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ross Lowe
Ross Lowe was a defenceman/left-winger who played parts of three years with the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens in the 40s and 50s. He was a tough competitor in the corners and the slot who was blessed with a decent scoring touch.

Born in Oshawa, Ontario, Lowe played junior with the home town Generals of the OHA before turning pro with the AHL's Hershey Bears in 1948-49. He played most of the next season in Hershey but was also summoned for three games in Boston. During the 1950-51 season he scored five goals in 43 games and played a solid checking role with various linemates.

In February, 1951 Lowe was traded to the Montreal Canadiens for Hal Laycoe and played two playoff games as the Habs reached the finals. He played 31 games the next season on the blueline in support of famous regular Tom Johnson, Doug Harvey, Dollard St. Laurent and Butch Bouchard. Following his NHL tenure Lowe played three years in the minors before retiring in 1955. During his last season he returned to forward and fired 32 goals for the Springfield Indians of the AHL.
