Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dean Magee
Left-winger Dean Magee played seven games for the Minnesota North Stars in 1977-78. He was a hard-nosed goal scorer whose talents were more noticeable in college and the minors.

Born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Magee spent two years in the AJHL with the Calgary Canucks. He then moved on to Colorado College and was drafted 130th overall by Minnesota after his freshman year in 1975. Magee spent three more seasons with the Tigers and notched personal high 23 goals in 1976-77.

Following his senior year in 1977-78, the young winger played a few games with the North Stars and the CHL's Tulsa Oilers. A few months later he turned his attention away from the NHL and signed with the WHA's Indianapolis Racers. After five games with the Racers Magee was relegated to the Grand Rapids Owls of the IHL where he was an impact player with 35 goals and 148 penalty minutes. He retired in 1980 after scoring 24 goals with the Houston Apollos of the CHL.
