Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ray Maluta
Defenseman Ray Maluta played parts of two seasons with the Boston Bruins in the late 70s. He was a scrappy competitor who put up impressive offensive totals in junior, the minors and Europe.

Born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Maluta spent four years with the home town Bombers of the WCJHL. He was taken 126th overall by Boston in 1974 after scoring 40 goals in his last amateur season. He played a solid checking role for the AHL's Rochester Americans as a rookie pro in 1974-75. The next year he played a couple of games for Boston then played 23 contests for the club in 1976-77.

Boston was fairly strong on the blueline so Maluta was returned to Rochester where he helped anchor the club's defense for another 2 1/2 years. He retired in 1980 after averaging nearly two points per game for the Salzburg club of Austria.
