Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Walt McCartney
In the late 1920s and early 1930s Walt McCartney played five seasons with the Weyburn Beavers in the Saskatchewan League. In 1932-33 he played the only two games of his NHL career, suiting up for the Montreal Canadiens, which was certainly the high point of his hockey days getting to play with such stars as Howie Morenz and Aurel Joliat.

McCartney continued to play hockey, primarily in western Canada with Vancouver, Calgary and Portland although he did have a brief stint with the Kingston Frontenacs in 1942-43. His final pro year was 1943-44 when he played with the Portland Oilers of the NWHL.
