Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bill McDonagh
Bill McDonagh played his junior hockey in Toronto, first with the St. Michael's Buzzers in OHA Junior B in 1947-48 before moving on to the St. Michael's Majors in the OHA major junior ranks.

With the Detroit Red Wings owning his NHL playing rights, McDonagh played with the Detroit Brights of the IHL in 1948-49. In the summer of 1949 he was traded to the New York Rangers for cash. He dressed for his entire four-game NHL career with the Rangers in 1949-50, but was held pointless. He rounded out his season playing with the New Haven Ramblers of the AHL.

After a season with the St. Paul Saints and Shawinigan Cataracts and the Sydney Millionaires, McDonagh began a four-year association with the Fredericton Capitals of the NBSHL playing in two Allan Cup championships. He caused a major stir during the 1956-57 season, refusing to play in a game against Saint John and was subsequently suspended for the rest of the season.

McDonagh played for the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario senior league for a year, retiring at the end of the 1957-58 season.
