Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bill Moe
Billy Moe was a solid positional defenceman for five years with the New York Rangers in the 1940s. He also enjoyed a long career in the minors for several different clubs.

Born in Danvers, Massachusetts, Moe split his first two pro seasons between the Atlantic City Seagulls and Baltimore Orioles of the EHL. He then moved up to the AHL where he excelled for three years. In 1943-44, he anchored the Hershey Bears blueline and was placed on the league's first all-star team.

Moe was a solid performer during his rookie year with the Rangers in 1944-45. He was a stabilizing influence in the defensive zone through the 1948-49 season. Moe thwarted many offensive rushes and was not afraid to take the body. He returned to Hershey in 1949-50 and also spent a year in the PCHL and EHL before retiring in 1953 to take up harness racing. Moe's exemplary career was acknowledged by his election to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.
