Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dean Morton
With the exception of 15 games in Ottawa, defenseman Dean Morton played his entire major junior career with the Oshawa Generals and was a key contributor to the team advancing to the 1987 Memorial Cup. Although he was not offensively skilled, Morton was known as a strong stay-at-home defender, who enjoyed playing a rugged style of game. Morton's toughness and tenacity was noticed by the Detroit Red Wings, who drafted him in the eighth round, 148th overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. He turned pro in 1988 and joined the Red Wings' minor-league affiliate in Adirondack for two years. Morton played his one and only game in the NHL in the 1989-90 season where he scored a goal, which was the highlight of his hockey career.

Although Morton never again made it back to the NHL, he played competitively for another three seasons. He last played for the Brantford Smoke of the Colonial Hockey League in 1992-93.
