Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gerry Munro
Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario defenseman Gerry Munro played all his minor hockey and early senior years in his hometown with the Greyhounds of the NOHA. He also played a season with the Sudbury Wolves in 1922-23.

Munro's big break came in October, 1924 when he signed a pro contract with the NHL's Montreal Maroons. In 30 games with the Maroons that year he contributed a goal for the team that included the likes of Harry Broadbent, Reg Noble and goaltender Clint Benedict.

The following October Munro was traded to the Toronto St. Pat's for cash but he played just four games with the team in the old Mutual Street Arena before being given his outright release. In 1926 he was signed as a free agent by the Detroit Greyhounds of the AHA after no other NHL teams expressed an interest in his services. He also made stops in Chicago, Winnipeg and Kansas City before finishing his career with the Minneapolis Millers in 1930-31.
