Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mark Renaud
Mark Renaud was an above-average rearguard with a playmaker's touch who skated for the Windsor Spitfires and the Niagara Falls Flyers OHA from 1975 to 1979. Upon graduation from Junior A, he was selected 102nd overall in the 1979 Entry Draft by the Hartford Whalers.

He turned pro in 1979 and began to divide his time between Hartford and their minor-league affiliates in the American League. Over the course of his four seasons in the organization, Renaud put in a total of four stints with the Whalers, the last, being a complete season in 1982-83. The problem for the struggling rearguard was that the Whalers were sitting in last place with defensive woes that played like a Greek Tragedy. Renaud was very much a part of the drama as he finished the season as a -42 in the plus/minus department.

In 1983-84, the beleaguered backliner was claimed by the Buffalo Sabres in the Waiver Draft. He put in a total of ten games with the club and then headed back to American League where he rounded out his pro career with the Rochester Americans in 1984-85.
