Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Andy Schliebener
Defenceman Andy Schliebener spent parts of three seasons with the Vancouver Canucks in the 80s. He was a decent playmaker who enjoyed most of his success in junior and the minors.

Born in Ottawa, Schliebener was taken 49th overall by the Canucks in 1980 after a solid rookie year in the OHA with the Peterborough Petes. He moved on to the Niagara Falls Flyers briefly then made his pro debut with the CHL's Dallas Black Hawks and the Canucks in the latter part of the 1981-82 season. The youngster looked solid in three playoff games in 1982 when the club made an improbable run to the Stanley Cup finals.

Schliebener played 51 games for Vancouver in 1983-84 but was saw his ice time reduced the next season. He retired in 1986 after playing a full year with the Fredericton Express of the AHL.
