Defenceman Chuck Shannon played four games for the New York Americans in 1939-40. He was a solid player in his own end with a hard shot from the point. His was best known as a solid performer in the AHL and senior hockey circles.

Born in Campbellford, Ontario, Shannon played junior with the OHA's Niagara Falls Cataracts before moving on to the senior Sudbury Wolves. During the 30s he was a solid worker on the AHL's Syracuse Stars and was named to the league's first all-star team in 1938.

Apart from his brief NHL tenure. Shannon was a stalwart in the AHL with several teams. In 1945 he joined the senior Toronto Staffords then spent a year each with the Owen Sound Mohawks and the Hamilton Pats before retiring in 1948.
