Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Thain Simon
Thain Simon was playing Senior hockey in Ottawa when he answered the call of duty and served his country in the Second World War. After two years away from the game he returned to hockey in 1945 and joined the Pembrooke Lumber Kings for seven contests.

The following year he made the leap to the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings where he played three scoreless games on the blueline. The rest of the season Simon, who was born on April 24th, 1922 in Brockville, Ontario, spent in the minors with the Indianapolis Capitals.

After spending the next two years toiling with semi-pro clubs and unable to work his way back up to the NHL level Simon returned to the Lumber Kings to finish his career playing Senior hockey. He played three seasons with Pembrooke then hung up his skates in 1952.

With his playing days behind him Simon coached the Lumber Kings Junior club for the 1952-53 season.
