Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Frank Simonetti
Defenseman Frank Simonetti was an All-American with Norwich University on the strength of his 28 points in just 18 games in 1984. After his collegiate career was complete the Melrose, Massachusetts native signed a free agent deal with his home state Boston Bruins on October 4th 1984.

The young rookie stepped right into the Bruins lineup and played 43 games for them in 1984-85. Simonetti, who also played 31 games in the minors that season, managed a goal and six assists with the Bruins. Unfortunately for Simonetti early in his second season he sustained a shoulder injury that required surgery and as a result he played just 17 games for the Bruins. It would prove to be a bad omen of things to come for the defenseman. Over the next two years, Simonetti continued to be felled by injury and was limited to just 55 games with the Bruins while playing 14 with their farm club.

With his career unable to build momentum due the repeated injury woes Frank Simonetti retired from the game in 1988.

Though his professional playing days were over, Simonetti continued to play occasionally as he remained active in the Bruins alumni games.
