Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Chris Speyer
Defenceman Chris Speyer played a few games for the Toronto St. Pats and the New York Americans in the 20s and 30s. The bulk of his pro career was spent in the Can-Am League where he supplied grit and offense.

The Toronto native played with the Granites and Aura Lee club in his hometown before suiting up for three games with the St. Pats in 1923-24. After a couple more games with the St. Pats the next year, he returned to the senior Aura Lee squad.

Speyer spent two years in the Can-Pro League then played most of the next six years with the New Haven Eagles of the Can-Am League. In November 1933 he was signed by the New York Americans and played nine more NHL games before returning to the minors. The veteran defenceman retired in 1936 after recording 20 points for the Springfield Indians and earning a spot on the Can-Am second all-star team.
