Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Butch Stahan
Defenceman Butch Stahan played three playoff games for the Montreal Canadiens in 1945. He was a decent playmaker and solid defender in his own end who played most of his career in the Quebec senior league.

Born in Minnedosa, Manitoba Stahan spent two years with the junior Portage Terriers and the Brandon Wheat Kings before moving on to the senior Flin Flon Bombers. After toiling briefly in the NOHA he played his first QSHL season with the Quebec Aces in 1940-41. In addition to his emergency recall to the Habs during the semifinal loss to Toronto, Stahan also skated for the QSHL's Montreal Royals and Ottawa Senators then spent three years in the IHL before retiring in 1957.
