Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mats Thelin
Defenseman Mats Thelin spent parts of three seasons with the Boston Bruins in the 80s. He was a mobile player who could play a chippy brand of hockey in his own zone. He was better known for a lengthy domestic and international career in his native Sweden.

The Stockholm native played his first of ten seasons with AIK Solna in 1980-81.Thelin helped the club win the league championship in 1982 and 1984 and represented Sweden at the World Championships in 1982 and 1983. He also took part in the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics and helped his country reach the finals of the Canada Cup a few months later.

Thelin was drafted 140th overall by the Bruins in 1981 and notched 18 and played solid defence as an NHL rookie in 1984-85. He was a decent utility player for another two years before returning to Sweden. The steady rearguard played six more years with Solna before hanging up his skates in 1993.
