Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jim Walsh
Jim Walsh was a superior collegiate athlete, somehow managing to play Baseball, Football and Hockey during his time at Northeastern University. After his three-year stint with them, he signed a free agent contract with the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres. His first season in the Sabres organization was the 1979-80 and he spent refining his skills with their American Hockey League farm club in Rochester. The following year was also spent with the Rochester Americans, but by his third season in the AHL, Walsh was ready for a crack at the NHL.

The Sabres called Walsh during his third pro-season, which was also his best, (7 goals and 40 points) for a short look. Walsh spent four games on the Buffalo blue line and was able to contribute one assist in that time.

The 1982-83 season saw Walsh on the move, starting the season with the Saginaw Gears of the International League, but after just five games he left the Gears and moved on to the AHL's Binghamton Whalers. The following campaign would be his last, and it consisted of just 13 games spent with the New Haven Nighthawks. The defenseman scored five assists in his short time in New Haven, but it proved to be his last stint as a professional hockey player.

With his playing days behind him, Jim Walsh began a second career in construction with his own Boston-based engineering and contracting firm. In 1991 Jim Walsh was elected to the Northeastern University Hall of Fame.
