Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Miles Zaharko
Miles Zaharko was born April 30, 1957 in Mannville, Alberta. The first selection, 20th overall, of the Atlanta Flames in the 1977 Amateur Draft, Zaharko joined the Western Hockey League's New Westminster Bruins in 1975-75 following an 84-point season with the Vermilion Bruins of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

A Memorial Cup finalist with New Westminster in 1976 and a winner in 1977, Zaharko joined the Atlanta Flames for the 1977-78 season playing in 71 games, and a handful with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs of the AHL.

The 1978-79 season saw Zaharko traded to the Chicago Black Hawks where he spent most of the year with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League, while playing 13 games with the New Brunswick Hawks of the AHL and only one with the Blackhawks.

Claimed once again by the Blackhawks in the 1979 Expansion Draft as a fill in, Zaharko spent the entire season in New Brunswick (1980-81), before rejoining the Black Hawks in 1981-82. Playing in only 15 games with the Blackhawks, Zaharko found himself once again spending the better part of the season in New Brunswick.

Once the 1982-83 season came around, he was a member of the Springfield Indians of the AHL. While scoring 24 points in 54 games with Springfield, Zaharko earned a spot on the league's Second All-Star Team.

After six seasons of professional hockey in North America and 129 career NHL games, he spent the 1983-84 season in Germany with SC Duisberg.
