Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Stephane Robidas
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Stephane Robidas was an offensive minded defenceman in junior and was chosen 164th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft while he was in the midst of a fine junior career with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL.

Defenceman of the year in his final year of junior, Robidas apprenticed in the AHL with Fredericton and Quebec for most of the next three years before making his NHL debut during the 1999-00 season.

In his first full season in Montreal in 2000-01, Robidas scored six goals and played solid defence in 65 games. After one more year in Montreal, Robidas was was claimed by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2002 Waiver Draft, before being traded to the Dallas Stars and played in a career high 76 games during the 2002-03 season.

With Dallas struggling on the blueline, Robidas was dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks in the early stages of the 2003-04 season before being re-acquired by the Stars in the summer of 2005.

As a member of the Stars Robidas would establish himself as a solid, two-way defender. His strong play was recognized when he was named to compete in the 2009 NHL All-Star Game.

After nine seasons with the Stars, Robidas was traded to the Anaheim Ducks for a fourth round pick on March 4, 2014. Robidas only played one season in Anaheim where his games were limited due to a fracture in his leg.

On July 1, 2014, Robidas signed a three year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On the international stage, Robidas represented Canada at the 2001 & 2006 World Championships.
