Remi Royer was born February 2, 1978 in Donnacona, Quebec. The 1st choice, 31st overall of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Royer was a graduate of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Royer spent four seasons in the QMJHL with Victoriaville, St-Hyacinthe and Rouyn-Noranda while playing in handful of games with Chicago's International Hockey League affiliate in Indianapolis during the 1996-97 season and again in 1997-98.

A QMJHL First Team All-Star in 1998 with Rouyn-Noranda, Royer made his NHL debut with Chicago during the 1998-99 season, playing in 18 games while spending the majority of the year with Indianapolis and two games with the American Hockey League's Portland Pirates.

The 6'2", 200 lbs defenceman joined the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks in 99-2000 before returning to Portland the following year, where he split his season with the AHL's Louisville Panthers.

Royer began the 2001-02 season with the East Coast Hockey League's Pensacola Ice Pilots before joining the AHL's Providence Bruins early into the season. After 24 games with Providence, Royer was on the move again, this time back to the ECHL and the Florida Everblades, however he played in only three games with Florida before joining the AHL's Quebec Citadelles.

Throughout his career, Remi Royer has played in 18 NHL games, having yet to register a point.
