Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Patrick Boileau
Patrick Boileau played his minor hockey in Laval, Quebec and was with the Laval Regents in 1991-92 where he averaged more than a point per game. The following year he made the jump to the QMJHL joining the Laval Titan. In his first two years with the club they advanced to the Memorial Cup but failed to take home the championship on either occasion.

Boileau was selected by the Washington Capitals in round three of the 1993 NHL NHL Entry Draft, 69th overall. When he turned pro in 1995-96 he was sent to the Portland Pirates where he played exclusively for two years with the exception of a one-game call-up to the Caps in 1996-97. In 1998-99, the former CHL Scholatic Player-of-the-Year played four more games with Washington, notching a single assist.

Up until 2002 Boileau has patrolled the defense for the Portland Pirates, with the exception of his being loaned to the Indianapolis Ice of the IHL for 29 games starting in February, 1999. After seven seasons with the Capitals organization, Boileau found a new home in 2002-03 with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins while seeing action with the team's parent club, the Detroit Red Wings.

After only one season with the Red Wing organization, Boileau joined the Pittsburgh Penguins in the summer of 2003, and upon his arrival spent the majority of his first season with the club's AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre.

The following two seasons Boileau would spend competing overseas with the Lausanne HC (Swiss, Swiss-Q) and the Frankfurt Lions (Germany).
