Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Alexei Tezikov
Defenseman Alexei Tezikov entered the 2001-02 season hoping to move up from the minors after playing a few games for the Washington Capitals between 1998 and 2000. A fine offensive player, he continued to try to refine his defensive play on the smaller North American ice surface.

Born in Togliatt\i, USSR, Tezikov was taken 115th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 1996 after a solid year with the Lada team in his hometown. He played briefly with Torpedo Nizhny then spent parts of the next two years with the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats. In 1997-98 he scored 15 goals and was voted on to the league's second all-star team.

In March, 1999, Tezikov was acquired by the Caps as a part of the package for veteran Joe Juneau. The youngster played five regular season games for the club the dressed for 23 games the next year. He spent most of his time with the Portland Pirates of the AHL then switched over to the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks after he was traded to Anaheim in March, 2001.
