Libor Zabransky was born November 25, 1973 in Brno, Czecheslovakia. The 8th selection, 209th overall, of the St. Louis Blues in the 1995 Entry Draft, Zabransky came to North America for the 1996-97 season following two seasons as a member of HC Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Republic.

Zabransky made his National Hockey League debut in the 1996-97 season with the St. Louis Blues registering a single goal and five assists for six points in 34 regular season games. He also spent some time with their American Hockey League affiliate the Worcester IceCats.

After only six games into the 1998-99 season with Worcester, the 6'3", 196-pound defenseman returned home to the Czech Republic to play for HC Slovnaft Vsetin where the team captured the 1998-99 Czech Republic championship.

At the conclusion of the 1997-98 season, Zabransky had accounted for seven points in 40 career NHL games.
