Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Robert Schnabel
Robert Schnabel was born November 10, 1978 in Prague, Czech Republic. Originally drafted in the 3rd round by the New York Islanders in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft before re-entering the draft in 1998 and being selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 5th round, Schnabel is a graduate of the Western Hockey League's Red Deer Rebels.

After three years as a member of the Czech Republic Junior League, Schnabel was also a member of the Czech National Junior Team at the 1998 World Junior Championships while spending one season with the Rebels in 1997-98 and playing in one game with the team in 1998-99 before joining the Coyotes AHL affiliate in Springfield.

In his first season of professional hockey, the Prague, Czech Republic native led Springfield in games played with 77 and ranked second on the team in plus-minus rating with a +9.

An eye injury limited Schnabel to only 40 games in 1999-2000 before being loaned to Timra of the Swedish Elite League after only 22 games of the 2000-01 AHL season. Following two and a half years with the Coyotes organization, the Nashville Predators claimed Schnabel off waivers in January of 2001 and he went on to spend the majority of the 2001-02 season in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals while playing in one game with the Preds. Schnabel played one game with the NHL Predators again in 2002-03, and spent the rest of his season in Milwaukee.

The Prague, Czech Republic native went on to split one more season with the Preds' and Admirals before opting to return back to the Czech Republic in May of 2004.
