Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Christian Berglund
Christian Berglund was born March 12, 1980 in Orebro, Sweden. The 3rd choice, 37th overall selection of the New Jersey Devils in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Berglund is a smooth skater with impressive acceleration and a good scoring touch.

The forward from Orebro, Sweden spent the early part of his career in the Swedish III and IV Division before spending five seasons in the Farjestads BK system with the junior team and Swedish Elite League team, capturing the 1998 Swedish junior title while finishing third in league scoring.

On the international stage, Berglund was a member of the Swedish Under-18 team and was voted to the All-Star Team at the 1998 Viking Cup and Six Nations Tournament while representing Sweden in 1999 and 2000 at the World Junior Championships.

Even though he spent the majority of his career with Farjestads BK, Berglund also saw action briefly with Bofors IK of the third division before joining the Devils organization in 2001-02.

In his first season with the Devils organization, Berglund spent the majority of the season with the team's AHL affiliate in Albany, where he finished second in team scoring with 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) in 60 games while seeing action in 15 games with the parent club.

In 2002-03, Berglund split his time between the Devils and the AHL's Albany River Rats before subsequently being packaged in a deal with prospect Victor Uchetov in March, 2004 that would bring Viktor Kozlov to New Jersey from Florida.

Berglund spent the next few seasons overseas signing as a free agent with Farjestad (Sweden) and Rapperswil (Swiss).
