Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jonathan Girard
Born in Joliette, Quebec, Girard starred in the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League with Laval-Laurentides before joining the QMJHL's Laval Titan in 1996-97. He was chosen 48th overall by the Bruins in 1998 then returned to junior where he helped Acadie-Bathurst reach the Memorial Cup tournament. Girard was named to the QMJHL First All-Star Team twice and the second unit once in a stellar junior career.

Girard got a tast of the NHL during the 1998-99 season before he was returned to his junior club. An offensively gifted defenceman, Girard rejoined the Bruins organization briefly in 1999-00, splitting his season with Boston, their AHL affiliate in Providence and the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats.

After having a taste of the professional game the previous two seasons, Girard went on to split the next two seasons between Boston and Providence before earning a regular spot with the Bruins in 2002-03 and is looked upon as one of the team's young shining stars.
