Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jay Henderson
Left-winger Jay Henderson entered the 2001-02 season hoping to gain a full time roster spot with the Boston Bruins. Since turning pro in 1998, he spent most of his time developing in the AHL while being summoned to Boston on occasion.

The native of Edmonton, Alberta was an amateur star with the Sherwood Park club in his hometown before joining the WHL's Red Deer Rebels in 1994-95. He was a solid role player for the club then assumed greater responsibility for the Edmonton Ice in 1996-97. He was chosen 246th overall by the Bruins at the Entry Draft then notched 49 goals for the Ice in 1997-98. During the next three years he contributed hard-nosed play and a few goals for the Providence Bruins of the AHL while earning the odd recall to the parent club.
