Goaltender Scott Fankhouser was born July 1, 1975 in Bismarch, ND. The eleventh round, 276th overall selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, Fankhouser honed his skills with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League before moving on the University of Massachesetts at Lowell.

For four seasons, Fankhouser tended goal with UMass-Lowell before making his professional debut in the fall of 1999. Although he was drafted by St. Louis, the Bismarck, ND native went on to sign as a free-agent with the Atlanta Thrashers in the summer of 1999. In his first season as a professional, Fankhouser split his time between, the ECHL's Greenville Grrrowl, the AHL's Louisville Panthers and the IHL's Orlando Solar Bears, while seeing action in 16 games with the Thrashers.

Over the course of the next three seasons, Fankhouser continued to toil in the minors before opting to sign as a free agent with Bietighein-Bissingen in Germany for the 2003-04 season.

After only one season overseas, Fankhouser was back in North America and splitting his time between the ECHL's Toledo Storm and the AHL's Chicago Wolves.
