Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Glenn Healy
Glen Healy played four year of college hockey at Western Michigan University. As a senior, his 21-14-2 record in 37 games earned him a place on the CCHA Second All-Star team and the NCAA West All American team. In June 1985 he was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Kings and played in his first NHL game for them during the 1985-86 season. That would be his only NHL game for the next two seasons, as he spent most of his time with the New Haven Nighthawks of the AHL.

In 1987-88, he was back with the Kings, playing 34 games that season and 48 the next. In August 1989 the New York Islanders signed him as a free agent. He spent four seasons with the Islanders, seeing action in both regular and playoff games but still coming up short of his goal--the Stanley Cup. During the Expansion Draft of 1993, four different teams owned his rights in the space of a few days. He finally ended up with the New York Rangers as a backup for Mike Richter.

It was with the 1993-94 Rangers that Healy got what he had always wanted: his name on the Stanley Cup. He stayed with the Rangers until the end of the 1996-97 season. Again a free agent, he was signed by the Leafs in August 1997, and he assumed the number two goaltending spot in Toronto. After a ten-game detour in the IHL (Chicago Wolves) in 1998-99, he was back in Toronto, this time behind Curtis Joseph, whom he would continue to back-up through the end of the 1999-2000 season.
