Goalie Paxton Schafer played three games for the Boston Bruins in 1996-97. He was better known for his netminding skills in junior and the minors.

Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta Schafer was chosen 47th overall by the Bruins after winning 32 games for his hometown Tigers of the WHL in 1994-85. That year his fine effort was rewarded with placement on the league's east first all-star team. Schafer eventually became a proficient minor pro worker in the AHL and ECHL but was pressed into service for three games by the parent club.
