Goaltender Darrell May played a few games for the St. Louis Blues in the 80s. Although his NHL career was brief, he enjoyed success in junior and the minor leagues.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, May spent four years with the WCJHL's Portland Winter Hawks. He was chosen 91st overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 1980 then returned to junior where he played two more years and finished with 103 career wins. May spent three years in the minors then made three appearances for the Blues in 1985-86.

Before retiring in 1989, May played three more games for the Blues in 1987-88 and was a star in the IHL with the Peoria Rivermen. Overall, he won 101 games over four seasons in Peoria and was a two-time selection to the league's first all-star team. In 1986 May was the winner of the James Gatschene Memorial Trophy as the IHL's MVP after posting 33 wins and a 3.23 goals against average for the Rivermen.
