Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Marc Behrend
Madison Wisconsin native Marc Behrend was born on January 11th, 1961 and went on to have a decorated collegiate career with the University of Wisconsin. A goaltender, he spent three seasons with Wisconsin, twice backstopping his team to the NCAA title. He was also twice named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team (1981 and 1983) and was also named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, for both of those seasons, becoming only the second player in the history of the tournament to do so. The only season of his college career that he didn't win a championship, Behrend still recognized when he was named to the WCHA's Second All-Star Team. He went straight from his successful collegiate career to the U.S. National team where he played in four games for the USA in the 1984 Olympic Winter Games.
