Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Maurice Courteau
Goaltender Maurice Courteau, born in Quebec City on February 18th, 1920 played mainly in his home province of Quebec, with the exception of the 1938-39 campaign before joining the Eastern Hockey League's Philadelphia Falcons in 1942.

In the EHL, Courteau flourished and was named to the league's Second All-Star Team. The following year he had another solid season, this time a First Team All-Star, he led the league in wins and was the recipient of the George L. Davis Trophy for lowest goals against in the league. Despite his accolades the high point of that year came when he was summoned by the Boston Bruins.

With the Bruins Courteau appeared in six games and won two. His short stay in Boston represented his only time in the National Hockey League during his career, though he did return to minor pro for five more seasons.

Courteau spent the next four years playing in four different leagues with his numbers steadily worsening. After leaving the game for a year in 1948, Courteau returned for one final campaign in 1949 when he suited up for the Magog Volanats then retired for good in 1950.
