Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- John Henderson
Netminder John Henderson toiled briefly with the Boston Bruins in the mid-50s. He was accomplished minor leaguer and senior hockey veteran who spent two decades in the game.

The Toronto native played three years with the home town Marlboros of the OHA before gaining pro experience in the AHL and QHL. During the 1954-55 season he posted five shutouts in 45 games along with a 15-14-15 record to help the Bruins reach the playoffs. He then played two games in the semifinal series they lost to the superior Montreal Canadiens.

Following his NHL experience, Henderson joined the Whitby Dunlops for several years. In 1957 he helped the team win the Allan Cup as Canada's senior champions then was the spare goaltender the next season when the "Dunnies" won the 1958 World Championship.

After spending the 1960-61 season with the EPHL's Kingston Frontenacs, Henderson retired for four seasons. He returned in 1965-66 and was a solid minor leaguer until he retired in 1970. The highlights of this stage in his career was leading all goalies in playoff wins while helping the Victoria Cougars win the WHL championship in 1966 and leading the AHL's Hershey Bears to the Calder Cup three years later.
