Goalie Hec Highton played half a season with the Chicago Black Hawks in 1943-44. During a pro career that lasted parts of nine seasons he was a solid workhorse in the AHL and PCHL.

Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Highton began his pro career with the PCHL's New Westminster Spitfires in 1942-43 after spending a year in military service. He won ten games in 24 appearances for the Hawks the next season then spent the rest of the year with the struggling Providence Reds of the AHL.

Beginning in 1944-45, Highton was a regular for four years with the AHL's St. Louis Flyers. He won 64 games over that period and was one of the most reliable backstoppers in the league. In 1948-49 he ventured west to play for the Los Angeles Monarchs of the Pacific Coast League. During his first two years with the club Highton won 54 games and notched four shutouts. He retired in 1951 after suiting up for the Victoria Cougars, Vancouver Canucks and Portland Eagles.
