Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Paul Hoganson
Netminder Paul Hoganson played a couple of games for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1970-71. He was better known as a workhorse in junior, the minors and the WHA in a career that lasted 13 years.

The Toronto native played junior with the OHA's Hamilton Red Wings, Kitchener Rangers and Toronto Marlboros. In 1969 he was named to the OHA second all-star team just before he was selected 62nd overall by Pittsburgh at the Amateur Draft. Hoganson spent most of his rookie year as a pro with the IHL's Fort Wayne Komets where he recorded three shutouts and a 3.46 goals against average.

Hoganson was shelled in two appearances with the defensively weak Pens in 1970-71. He toiled in the minors for nearly three years and was placed on the IHL second all-star team in 1972 after recording a 3.14 goals against average in 52 games for Fort Wayne. Prior to the 1973-74 season he came to terms with the Los Angeles Sharks of the WHA. Over the next five years he stopped pucks for five different teams in the league and posted a personal best 19 wins for the Cincinnati Stingers in 1975-76. Hoganson retired in 1979 after making 37 appearances for the PHL's Tuscon Rustlers.
